Krobo beads

Krobo beads are translucent glass beads made from recycled bottle glass by the Krobo people of Northern Ghana who use traditional methods to fashion beads in small sand kilns. I buy the beads from a fair-trade dealer who sources traditionally made beads from all over the African continent . I use Krobo beads strung with other handmade beads and washers to create one off items of jewellery, examples of which are shown below.
