Kilim

Kilims are flat-woven rugs typically decorated with bold geometric patterns often in vibrant but sometimes subtle colour combinations. If you have travelled in Turkey, the middle east or north Africa you will be familiar with the ubiquitous carpet shops found in every bazaar or marketplace and run by enthusiastic vendors who invite you in for mint tea and a floor show of carpets and kilims that can last all afternoon if you like. This series of pots were inspired by memories of one such visit to a town in southern Turkey which resulted in us jettisoning the contents of our backpacks in favour of the carpets we bought that day.
